Theresa Long, a native Missouri Artist and Art teacher expresses her passion for the natural world through her paintings, gardens and conservation efforts at Bethany Springs where she and her family continue to restore the land and structures of their 1800s farm. Since 1995 they have worked to encourage native species by tending and reconstructing woodland, prairie, glade, wetland and stream habitat on their 165 acres. This serves as inspiration for her paintings and has sparked a specific interest in "Painting for Conservation".
Theresa received her bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and her Masters of Arts in Teaching from Webster University. Additionally she received her Masters of Education from Maryville University in St. Louis. She has been teaching art for 29 years and currently offers private art lessons and hosts guest artist workshops at Bethany Springs Farm. Working in oils and watercolors, she dedicates her paintings to the purpose of promoting awareness of and appreciation for conservation and natural areas. Twenty percent of all proceeds from art sales are donated to the Missouri Prairie Foundation. She hopes to make a broader impact for future generations by partnering science, art and community through collective efforts and contributions.
